Pittsburgh's 2017 Top Stories: The Log Jammer's Last Ride
After 42 years, Kennywood bid adieu to the popular log flume ride.

PITTSBURGH, PA - The word came without warning, and it was not well received. After 42 years of ups, downs and splashes, Kennywood was retiring the Log Jammer.
What made the announcement even worse was its timing. Kennywood shocked fans of the beloved water ride by disclosing the ride’s demise on Sept. 14, just three days before the park’s regular season ended. Many people who couldn’t get to the park for a final ride voiced their displeasure on social media.
The log flume ride debuted at Kennywood in 1975 as the park's first million-dollar attraction. The site of the Jammer was previously home to attractions such as the Kangaroo, Loop-O-Plane, Bayern Kurve, a Ferris Wheel, and, from 1930 until 1974, a pony track.
