Sometimes, healthy eating has to be ignored. Here are Patch's picks for the tastiest junk food places in Pittsburgh.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Friday is National Junk Food Day, which begs the question: Where can you find the best junk food in and around Pittsburgh?

Sometimes, eating healthy just isn't right. You need to indulge in some delicious offerings that might later make you feel guilty, but so what? We're all going to die someday anyway.

While not an all-inclusive list, here are some of Patch's favorite junk food places:

  • Prantl's Bakery, multiple locations: The burnt almond torte doughnut is a treat of exquisite beauty.
  • Page's, East Carson Street, South Side: The South Side hot dog. This specialty comes with a grilled hot dog, coated with a homemade sweet and sour sauce, on a toasted bun.
  • Kennywood, West Mifflin: Potato Patch fries. They are incredible. Topping choices include cheddar cheese, bacon, vinegar,brown gravy and a variety of seasoning salts.a
  • Primanti Bros., multiple locations: The Pitts-Burger and cheese. The classic Primanti Bros. sandwich that comes on thick slices of bread and is adorned with french fries and coleslaw.
  • Mike & Tony's Gyros, multiple locations: Oh wow. Will you find a better gyro in Western Pennsylvania? Don't think so.
  • The Triangle, Swissvale: Best hoagies in town by far. Who hasn't enjoyed a Super Battleship, which comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, oil, vinegar, salt, pepper and oregano, on a Steelers Sunday?
  • D's Six Pax and Dogz, Regent Square and Murrysville: Award-winning hot dogs. Patch's favorite is the Chicago,which comes with relish, onions, pickle, tomatoes, sport peppers, yellow mustard and celery salt. Yum.
  • Aiello's Pizza, Squirrel Hill and Shaler: Their white pizza is just incredible. Actually, so is their red.
