Pittsburgh's First Fall Frost 2022: When Will It Occur?
Weather forecasting agencies have widely varying opinions of when the region's first autumnal frost will happen.

PITTSBURGH, PA — There's no stopping Mother Nature or the earth's rotation around the sun. It's autumn and colder weather is on its way. When can Pittsburgh expect is first frost?
The National Weather Service defines a frost and light freeze as when temperatures fall between 29 and 32 degrees. The normal average date that occurs is Oct. 17.
The weather service's early forecast for the weekend calls for a chance of patchy frost on Sunday morning, although likely not as frosty as the cold look in Mitch Trubisky's eyes when being interviewed after being benched during Sunday's Steelers game.

But frost is not a certainty. State College-based Accu-Weather currently is calling for a low of 39 degrees Sunday morning. Accu-Weather's long-range forecast doesn't have Pittsburgh's first frost occurring until Nov. 11.
The Weather Channel predicts an even later date, with its long-range forecast calling for the region's first frost to happen on Nov. 14.
