Pizza Milano Attack: Alleged Victim Files $5 Million Lawsuit

Jade Martin was allegedly assaulted by a manager at the Uptown restaurant last month.

PITTSBURGH, PA - The woman allegedly assaulted at an Uptown pizza place last month has filed a civil lawsuit against the business and its former manager. The civil lawsuit filed by Jade Martin of Homestead seeks $5 million in punitive damages and $35,000 in compensatory damages from Pizza Milano on Fifth Avenue and former restaurant manager Mahmut Yilmaz.

Martin was allegedly attacked by Yilmaz on Jan. 12 after she entered the restaurant to use the restroom in an incident that was captured in a phone video and uploaded to YouTube. Yilmaz, who was fired after the confrontation, was charged with aggravated assault. Martin was charged with trespassing.

The video, which sparked protests outside the pizza place, shows Yilmaz throwing Martin to the ground and slamming her head repeatedly against the floor before other restaurant employees intervened in the altercation.
