Plan In Place To Feed Students If Pittsburgh Teachers Strike
Breakfast and lunches will be offered in many locations around the city. Some places will provide dinner as well.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Contingency plans have been established to provide Pittsburgh Public Schools students with breakfast and lunches in the event a planned teacher strike begins on Friday.
District officials and the Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers continued negotiating Tuesday, a day after the union announced it would go on strike Friday. According to the district, the stumbling block to a new labor agreement is the union’s resistance to principals overseeing teacher assignments.
As talks continue, the school district and city have collaborated on a plan to serve the meals at various times and locations. The district participates in a community eligibility program that enables students to eat for free regardless of their financial standing.
