Plans Finalized For New Downtown Pittsburgh Movie Theater
Find out here when the multiplex is expected to open.

PITTSBURGH, PA - The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust has finalized plans for a first-run Downtown movie theater and hopes to have the six-screen multiplex open by 2021.
The theater will have a modern sound system, reclining seats and serve light food and drinks, trust president Kevin McMahon told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Rick Stern, owner of the Manor Theater in Squirrel Hill, and national theater chain Bow Tie Cinemas, are the leading contenders to operate the multiplex.
The theater will be located in the long-closed Bally Sports Club on Sixth Street, which was a movie house before it became a fitness center. The building formerly housed the Gateway Theater, which closed in 1980.
