Body Cam Footage Of Trump Assassination Attempt Aftermath Released
A graphic police body cam video shows the moments immediately after Thomas Matthew Crooks attempted to kill former President Donald Trump.

BUTLER, PA — A video showing the moments immediately following the Donald Trump assassination attempt has emerged showing law enforcement agents on a rooftop next to the body of shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks.
U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, posted the video Tuesday evening on his X account. It shows Crooks' body on the roof of the building from where he opened fire, along with a trail of blood on the rooftop.
Grassley said the video was obtained from the Beaver County Emergency Services Unit in compliance with Congressional requests. "We NEED detailed answers ASAP on security failures. TRANSPARENCY BRINGS ACCOUNTABILITY," he wrote.

The video shows someone in a black suit and sunglasses speaking with law enforcement officers armed with rifles and wearing body armor. A rifle is shown lying on the roof, although it is unclear whether it is the one Crooks used.
The officer whose body camera was recording noted that a law enforcement sniper had seen a person coming from a bike and setting down a backpack but lost sight of him. It's unknown if the officer was referring to Crooks.
Crooks' father, Matthew Crooks, spoke for the first time publicly Tuesday since the assassination attempt as he and a masked woman were approached by a Fox News team as they left a supermarket.
“We just want to try to take care of ourselves right now. Please, just give us our space,” Crooks said as he loaded bags of groceries into his car.
“We’re going to release a statement when our legal counsel advises us to do so – until then, we have no comment.”
The video cuts off as Crooks is asked if his son's body has been released to him.
- Testifying at a House Homeland Security Committee hearing, Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Christopher Paris said that two local officers positioned in a building overlooking the roof from which Crooks fired left their post moments before he climbed up to it. After Crooks was identified as a suspicious person, the two officers left their post to search for him him on the ground, Paris testified.
- Following her testimony Monday at a contentious House Oversight Committee hearing, U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle announced her resignation. Cheatle admitted during the hearing that the agency's attempt to protect Trump at the rally had been a catastrophic failure. “I take full responsibility for the security lapse,” she said in an email to staff obtained by The Associated Press. “In light of recent events, it is with a heavy heart that I have made the difficult decision to step down as your director.”
- House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-LA, and Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-NY, announced a bipartisan task force composed of seven Republicans and six Democrats to investigate the incident.
