Popular Downtown Pittsburgh Restaurant Closing

The eatery had been a Downtown staple since 2006.

PITTSBURGH, PA - After a 13-year run, Nine on Nine at the intersection of Penn Avenue and Ninth Street, Downtown, will close next weekend.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that the Cultural District eatery is closing because of a significant rent increase. About 25 workers will lose their jobs.

Nine on Nine will be the third restaurant in the 900 block of Penn Avenue to close in the past year or so. Le Lyonnais (the former Sonoma Grille) and Seviche also shut down, although the latter will reopen soon as Bridges & Bourbon.
