The restaurant is relocating to the former Route 22 office of Berkshire Hathaway, between KFC and the Rosa Court shopping center.

"The property is well suited for a major redevelopment and repositioning into a mix of uses including retail and entertainment, restaurants, residential, hospitality, office, and public spaces."

A $7.5 state grant application has been filed to help pay the costs of razing Monroeville Mall. It says in part:

"The Monroeville Mall Economic Revitalization Project will transform& the space into a modern, mixed-use destination that strengthens the regional economy.

"The project begins with full demolition of the existing mall structures, clearing the site entirely for redevelopment.

"Construction will include new retail, restaurant, and entertainment space, supported by new landscaping, pedestrian-friendly design, and public open spaces for community use.

"Site preparation will include grading, stabilization, and modernization of utilities such as water, sewer, electric and telecommunications."

Walmart currently has no presence in Monroeville's densely-populated retail corridor. The nearest Walmart is in North Versailles, about five miles from the mall.
