Popular Pittsburgh Pizza Chain Opening Italian Restaurant

PITTSBURGH, PA — The owner of one of the city's most well-known pizza chains is opening a sit-down Italian restaurant.

Rico Lunardi, owner of the award-winning Slice on Broadway chain, will open the doors Wednesday to Lucatino on East Main Street in Carnegie. The eatery is named after Lunardi's sons, Luca and Santino.

The menu will feature focaccia flights, small plates, salads, tonda romana pizzas, focaccia sandwiches and pastas. It will be open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m.-9 p.m; Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m.-9 p.m.

The food will come from a pizza chain that has a high standard fortaste.

Slice on Broadway last year won a global award at the annual International Pizza Expo & Conference in Las Vegas. The chain's Chris Ostapenko won the World's Best Cheese Slice Award.

Slice on Broadway has locations in Beechview, Carnegie, East Liberty, Robinson, Wexford and the South Side.
