Popular Pittsburgh Pizzeria Closing

After nearly a half-century in business, this well-known pizza place will close soon.

PITTSBURGH, PA — After 45 years in business, Sammy's Pizzeria on Noblestown Road in the city's Westwood neighborhood will close on February 4.

"Thank you to our loyal customers who have continued to support our family business," the pizza place stated in a social media post. " It has been an honor to serve you since 1978. We will keep the fond memories and relationships created here close to us."

People responding to the Facebook post were saddened by the news.

"Sorry to hear this," Ron Kantrowitz wrote. "Food and staff was always fantastic. Lots of wonderful memories there."

"So sad," Dan Theiss wrote. "One of my favorites. The cheese balls. The pizza boat. Slices. And those wings!"
