Popular Pittsburgh Restaurant To Close For Rebranding Effort
"This is much more than a new name, a fresh coat of paint or a new menu," the restaurant's owner said.

HOMESTEAD, PA — Large changes are afoot at one of the most popular restaurants at The Waterfront.
Shorty's will close at the end of August for a month to evolve its concept. The changes will be significant, according to Herky Pollock, president and CEO of Legacy Hospitality Partners, which owns the eatery.
"We will be closing Shorty’s Waterfront briefly so we can make the changes necessary to create a concept that is truly in keeping with who we are, what we believe in and what we strive to be," he said Thursday.

"This is much more than a new name, a fresh coat of paint or a new menu. It is a commitment to getting back to the standards we expect of ourselves and that you should expect from us."
The restaurant will be rebranded as Shorty's Social Kitchen. Perhaps hinting that the restaurant's new menu might focus on chicken items, Pollock said, "Something cluckin' good is coming."

Pollock expressed disappointment over the current state of Shorty's, saying, "When we put our name on something, we know there must be a standard of excellence that comes with it. In this instance, I personally failed by allowing Shorty’s Waterfront to fall short of the standards that are at the very essence of every restaurant in the Legacy Hospitality Partners family: great food, stimulating décor and memorable hospitality.
"If any one of these standards falls short, we fall short. And in this case, we fell short."
No changes were announced for Shorty's other location on the North Shore.
Legacy also operates Ritual House and The Common Good, both Downtown; and Palm Palm in Eastside.
