Popular Pittsburgh Restaurant Prepares To Open 2nd Location

The Big Burrito Restaurant Group is about to add another eatery to its ever-expanding roster of restaurants.

PITTSBURGH, PA — One of the city's most successful restaurant operators is about to expand its Italian eatery in Fox Chapel into a new Downtown location.

The Big Burrito Restaurant Group is preparing to open a second Alta Via restaurant, this on at 2 PPG Place in Market Square. "We’re getting everything in mint condition downtown at Alta Via Market Square so we can open in just a few weeks," a recent post on the restaurant's Facebook page stated.

The restaurant's tentative opening date is Oct. 26, the Pittsburgh Business Times reported.

Alta Via's website says the restaurant specializes in modern Italian cooking that includes fresh handmade pastas and grilled meats and vegetables.

Big Burrito also owns the Mad Mex chain; Alta Via Pizzeria in Bakery Sqaure; Casbah, Soba and Umi, all in Shadyside; and Kaya and Eleven, both in the Strip District.
