Popular Pittsburgh Restaurant Shutting Down After Nearly 70 Years

JEFFERSON HILLS, PA — Anyone driving on Route 51 has seen the witty messages posted on the message board outside of the Blue Flame restaurant, a community staple for 68 years.
Those messages end Sunday when the the restaurant closes. The announcement of the shuttering was announced by the eatery owners on social media.
"We would like to thank the people that have been so important to us over the years," a post on the restaurant's Facebook page stated.

"Many of the customers who arrived over the decades initially arrived as strangers and have become good friends. Your ongoing support of the Blue Flame is what fueled the longevity of the business and for that we could not be more appreciative.
"While we are saddened by the closing of this family business, we have immense gratitude for the wonderful journey of the past 68 years and the community of customers, employees and friends we have had the pleasure of knowing. We will miss you."
