Popular Strip District Restaurant Closing

This eatery has been a Strip District staple for nearly two decades.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Lidia's, the Strip District restaurant that helped establish Pittsburgh as a fine dining destination, will close next month.

Established by Emmy award-winning public television host and bestselling cookbook author Lidia Bastaianich, Lidia’s Pittsburgh opened in March 2001. That was two years after Bastianich opened the popular Lidia’s Kansas City, her first venture outside of Manhattan.

Acclaimed New York architect David Rockwell designed the restaurant interior to reflect an open-warehouse atmosphere nestled in the heart of the strip district. Its menu long has featured a daily pasta tasting with homemade pastas that incorporate the season's freshest ingredients in addition to Italian favorites.
