Rally's Returns To Pittsburgh
After a prolonged absence in the Pittsburgh market, prepare to see plenty of Rally's and Checkers restaurants around town.
PITTSBURGH, PA - Tampa-based fast food chain Checkers & Rally's Restaurants Inc. is in expansion mode and plans to add as many as 30 Pittsburgh locations. The first will open August 27 on Frankstown Road in Penn Hills, the company announced.
If the Rally's name sounds familiar, there were several Rally's restaurants in the Pittsburgh area back in the 1990s. - including the North Side and Wilkinsburg. But Rally's disappeared from the market after merging with Checkers in 1999.
Under an ambitious expansion plan announced last year, the company said it hoped to open about 100 new restaurants across the country. Most Checkers and Rally's are modular, primarily drive-through locations. They have walk-up windows as well, but generally do not have seating areas.
