PITTSBURGH, PA - The Steelers are off to a dreadful 1-4 start, but the Washington Redskins reportedly have Mike Tomlin near the top of their head coach wish list. The Redskins fired Coach Jay Gruden after Sunday's game.

"I firmly believe that Dan Snyder's primary objective in his next coaching hire will be to find a way to acquire Mike Tomlin from the Steelers," football insider Jason La Canfora tweeted on Monday. "We'll see how feasible that may be."

ESPN's Ed Werder tweeted that someone who knows Redskins owner Dan Snyder well and is aware of his thoughts on potential next head coaches for the team said his preferred candidates are Tomlin, Tampa Bay defensive coordinator Todd Bowles and Kansas City offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.

It is unclear just how the Redskins would be able to land Tomlin, who is in his 13th season as Steelers coach and in July signed a contract extension through. Hired in 2007, Tomlin is only the team's third coach since 1969. Chuck Noll and Bill Cowher were the other two in the past half-century.

Tomlin, 47, has guided the Steelers to two Super Bowl appearances. He became the youngest coach in NFL history to not only lead his team to the Super Bowl, but also win it when the Steelers defeated the Arizona Cardinals, 27-23, in Super Bowl XLIII.

Under Tomlin, the Steelers have won six AFC North Division titles, made the playoffs eight
times and played in two Super Bowls - Super Bowl XLIII and Super Bowl XLV.
