Remains Found Near Mt. Washington's Mon Incline, Hotel Site

Two hikers made the grisly discovery Thursday.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Authorities are attempting to identify a badly decomposed body found Thursday on a wooded hillside on Mt. Washington adjacent to the Monongahela Incline.

Police were called to an area near the intersection of Wyoming and East Sycamore streets after two hikers spotted the corpse over a cliff. The recovered remains were taken to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Alicia George told KDKA-TV that the decomposed body was “basically just bones”

The property next to the incline is the site of a proposed $95 million hotel. It once housed the Edge restaurant.
