Retired Pittsburgh TV News Anchor Dies
If you're a longtime Pittsburgh-area resident, you'll no doubt remember this local TV reporter and anchor who has died.
PITTSBURGH, PA — A reporter and anchor who spent more than three decades at a Pittsburgh TV station has died.
DeHaven "Dee" Thompson, 84, died on Thursday, WPXI-TV announced over the weekend. He started at the station in 1974 as a sports reporter, then became a general assignment reporter and anchor until his retirement in 2009.
According to his official obituary, Thompson was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and never missed a home Steelers game. He interviewed many prominent Pittsburgh athletes, including legendary Pirates outfielder Roberto Clemente.

Thompson is survived by his two daughters and two grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Friday May 17 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the Saul-Gabauer Funeral Home on Route 68 in Rochester, Beaver County.
