Rick Cessar, Former Western PA State Legislator, Dies At 93
Mr. Cessar had a long and distinguished career in the state House.
SHALER TOWNSHIP, PA — Rick Cessar, who spent more than two decades as a Pennsylvania state House member representing the Pittsburgh northern suburban communities that included Shaler and Etna, died Tuesday. He was 93.
Mr. Ceassar died surrounded by family members at Sunrise of McCandless, where he had been living.
Mr. Cessar was an Etna borough police officer for 17 years, then served as an an administrative assistant to the local incumbent before running for an winning his seat. He represented the 30th Legislative District for 24 years, rising to the Republican Party's majority whip and serving as majority chairman of the House transportation committee.
