  • Steel City Comic Con, Aug. 10 and 11, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Aug. 12, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Monroeville Convention Center, Monroeville.

If you think the Con is all about buying slightly moldy copies of 1970s-era issues of Swamp Thing, you’re sadly mistaken. The Con will be populated by celebrities such as John Cusack (“Say Anything” and “High Fidelity”), Kathleen Turner (“The War of the Roses” and “Body Heat”), Robert Wagner (TV’s “Hart to Hart” and the Austin Powers movies) and ex-Monkee Michael Nesmith. To say the least, this is a star-studded event.

Steel City Comic Con tickets start at $23.

  • “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” Aug. 9, 7:30 p.m.; Aug 10, 8 p.m.; Aug. 11, 2 and 8 p.m. Aug. 12, 2 and 7 p.m., Benedum Center.

Based on the 1967 Academy Award-winning film, this show recalls the height of the New York City Jazz Age, when "moderns” were bobbing their hair, raising their hemlines, entering the workforce and rewriting the rules of love. Flapper Millie Dillmount is on the hunt for a rich husband but instead falls for a penniless paperclip salesman.

Thoroughly Modern Millie tickets start at $25.75.

  • All Star Craft Beer and Wine Festival, Aug. 11, 3 p.m., PNC Park.

Unlimited samples of hundreds of craft beer, wine, and cocktail brands from around the world will be showcased throughout the ballpark. There also will be live bands and DJs, a keepsake sampling glass, two tickets to a Pirates game and free admission to the official after party at Tequila Cowboy. Oh, you also can walk the bases and get your photo taken in the Pirates dugout.

All Star Craft Beer and Wine Festival tickets start at $49.95.

  • Crosstown Cookout, Aug. 12, 1-9 p.m., Mon Wharf, Downtown.

The Mon Wharf isn’t just about parking anymore. The second annual cookout brings together food, music, drinks, and river activities to form one big community celebration at riverfront lot. The event will feature some of the ‘city’s best offerings from favorite restaurants and live artists.

Crosstown Cookout tickets are $5.
