Sandcastle Shutdown Continues Friday

With just a few weeks left the water park's season, Sandcastle officials still don't know when it will reopen after last week's flooding.

PITTSBURGH, PA - If you’re looking to get your Sandcastle fix before the West Homestead water park closes for the season, you have to be feeling frustrated. Sandcastle will be closed again Friday for the fifth consecutive day, as cleanup from last weekend’s flooding continues.

Park officials announced the continued shutdown on Sandcastle’s Facebook page. They also posting pictures that showed portions of the lower level finally cleaned of the massive amounts of mud from the adjacent Monongahela River, which submerged a large part of the park after heavy rain.

“We are making a lot of progress with parts of the park almost done,” the post stated. “However we still have a lot of work ahead of us. Thank you again for your patience and check back for updates.”
