Pittsburgh, PA – The August Wilson African American Cultural Center is proud to introduce a tantalizing new culinary experience that promises to engage the palate, intellect, and spirit. The inaugural event of the "A Seat at Our Table" Culinary Series will feature the renowned author and scholar, Dr. Jessica B. Harris.

Dr. Jessica B. Harris is a true luminary in the realm of African Diaspora cuisine. As a New York Times bestselling author, her body of work comprises eighteen books, including twelve cookbooks that celebrate the rich and diverse culinary traditions of the African Diaspora. Notably, her award-winning book "High on the Hog" served as the foundation for the acclaimed, Peabody Award-winning Netflix series of the same name.
In recognition of her profound contributions, Dr. Harris' books were inducted into the James Beard Cookbook Hall of Fame in 2019, and she received the prestigious James Beard Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020. Dr. Harris' influence transcends the culinary world, earning her a place on TIME's list of the "Most Influential People" in 2021. Having shared her wisdom as a professor at Queens College/CUNY in New York for five decades, she now holds the title of Professor Emerita at the institution.
The August Wilson African American Cultural Center invites you to join us for the "A Seat at Our Table" Culinary Series, featuring the remarkable Dr. Jessica B. Harris. This exclusive event will take place on November 15, 2023, starting at 5:30 PM with crafted cocktails, a delectable plated dinner curated and hosted by Dr. Harris, a signed cookbook for each guest, and a captivating talkback session with Dr. Harris in the theater. Tickets for this all-encompassing experience are available for $110.
For those who want to savor the post-dinner discussion and taste light bites created using Dr. Harris's recipes, separate tickets are available for $40.
