PITTSBURGH, PA — It's understandable if Western Pennsylvania residents are growing weary of the persistent threat of hazardous weather. Severe storms and tornadoes have been common thus far across the region this summer.
Severe storms are possible in the Pittsburgh area again Friday.
The National Weather Service says there is a risk for severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. The main hazard is expected to be damaging wind, but there also is the potential for locally heavy rainfall that may lead to flooding.

Before the storms move in, the forecast calls for partly sunny skies with a high temperature approaching 90. There is a 60 percent chance of showers and storms this evening and overnight.
Expect mostly sunny skies on Saturday with a high in the upper 80s. As of Friday morning, there was no indication storms will hit the area tomorrow.
