Severe Storms Risk Looms For Pittsburgh Area

Early autumn severe storms are possible for Pittsburgh and southwestern Pennsylvania.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Autumn has arrived and leaves are falling from the trees, but the threat of severe weather more characteristic of summer still lingers.

After well-above temperatures today, the National Weather Service predicts isolated severe storms are possible overnight as a a cold front passes through the region. The primary threat from the storms will be hail.

Tuesday could see lingering showers and storms, primarily before noon. Partly cloudy skies will be prevalent in the afternoon, with a high near 75. Expect pleasant conditions for the rest of the week, with highs in the low 70s.
