Shadyside Ranked Among America's Best Places To Live

PITTSBURGH, PA - With its trendy shops and restaurants and its quiet residential streets, Shadyside long has been among the city's most popular neighborhoods in the city. Now Money magazine has ranked it as one of the "Best Places To Live In America" for 2019.

Shadyside was one of just two Pennsylvania towns to make the Money list. The other was Abington in Montgomery County near Philadelphia.

The new rankings, released in partnership with Realtor.com, werecompiled by looking at more than 160,000 data points, including economichealth, cost of living, diversity, public education, crime, and income.

We considered data on each place's economic health, cost of living, ethnic and economic diversity, public education, income, health and safety, ease of living, and amenities, all provided by research partner Witlytic. We put the greatest weight on economic factors, housing, health and safety, diversity and cost of living. Quality of life, education and local amenities were also critical components.

Reporters also researched each community, interviewed residents and checked out neighborhoods.

The study included only towns with populations of 50,000 or more, but excluded communities with more than double the national crime risk, less than 85 percent of their state's median household income, and a lack of diversity.

That left Money with 1,796 cities from which to pick the top 100.

According to the rankings, these are the 5 Best Places To Live In America:

1. Clarksville, Tennessee
2. Round Rock, Texas
3. Fishers, Indiana
4. Fulton River District, Illinois
5. Country Club Heights, North Carolina
