Shots Fired Into Pittsburgh-Area Council Candidate's Home

In a frightening incident, bullets tore into the council candidate's house.

BRADDOCK, PA — Former Braddock Mayor Chardae Jones, who now is running for borough council, said her home was riddled with bullets early Sunday.

In a WTAE-TV report, Jones showed a reporter seven bullet holes. In a WPXI-TV report, she showed a reporter shell casings she picked up outside of her home.

Jones said that moments before the gunfire erupted, her boyfriend saw two people attempting to break into cars on Corey Avenue and yelled at them. Cameras outside of the home provide evidence of the attempted break-ins.

"They fired seven shots into my house, breaking windows and damaging walls and kept driving down the street," Jones stated in a social media post on Monday. "My spirit however was not broken and things are replaceable."

Jones had overnight guests when the shooting occurred, but no injuries were reported.
