Some Pittsburgh-Area School Districts Closing For Weeks

Several districts announced long-term closures as a result of the coronavirus outbreak. At least one is closing for a month.

UPDATE: Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf announced just after 3 p.m. Friday that all schools in the state must close for 10 business days due to the outbreak. MORE.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Several Pittsburgh-area school districts announced long-term closures Friday due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Among them:

  • North Hills: Closed until at least March 30. All district buildings and facilities are closed during this time, transportation is suspended, and all athletics, activities and events are cancelled. There will be no practices, games, rehearsals, etc. No outside organizations will be permitted to use district facilities for practices or previously scheduled games and events. The district will look to reschedule as many events as possible.
  • North Allegheny: Closed until at least March 30.
  • Fox Chapel: Closed until at least April 13.
  • Montour: Closed until at least March 30.
