Steelers-49ers NFL Week 3: What You Need To Know

The desperate Steelers travel across the country to tangle with the unbeaten San Francisco 49ers.

PITTSBURGH, PA - The Steelers will have new looks on offense and defense Sunday that hopefully will produce the team's first win of what thus far has been a troubling start to the season.

On offense, Mason Rudolph takes over as quarterback after Ben Roethlisberger suffered a season-ending elbow injury that likely doomed any chance of a successful Steelers' season. Rudolph, a second-year pro out of Oklahoma State, played decently in the second half of last week's disappointing loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

On defense, the Steelers on Monday surrendered their first round pick next year to acquire defense back Minkah Fitzpatrick from the Miami Dolphins. Fitzpatrick, the 11th pick in last year's draft is expected to help shore up a defense that has been torched in the first two weeks by New England quarterback Tom Brady and Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson.

The Steelers travel to San Francisco to play the 2-0 49ers, who have put up 72 points in their first two games against Tampa Bay and Cincinnati. The Steelers typically play poorly on the West Coast but can't afford to do so this week as an 0-3 record would virtually make it impossible to make the playoffs.

Here's what you need to know about the game:
