Steelers Great Troy Polamalu Selected To Hall Of Fame

PITTSBURGH, PA - Canton will be packed with Steelers fans this summer for the Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony this summer. Safety Troy Polamalu was elected to the hall on Saturday and will join former coach Bill Cowher and former safety Donnie Shell as the latest Steelers representatives in the hall.

Also selected among modern-era players were safety Steve Atwater, wide receiver Isaac Bruce, guard Steve Hutchinson and running back Edgerrin James.

Polamalu played college football at the University of Southern California. He was chosen by the Steelers in the first round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He a member of two of the Steelers' Super Bowl championship teams and was the NFL defensive player of the year in 2010.

Polamalu also was an eight time Pro-Bowler and a six time All-Pro selection.

He will be inducted along with Cowher, who coached the team for 15 years and won eight division titles and made 10 playoff appearances. Cowher's teams appeared in the Super Bowl twice, winning once. He was the second coach in NFL history to reach the playoffs in each of his first six seasons as a head coach.

Shell, an undrafted free agent, was a five-time Pro Bowler during the Steelers' 70s dyanasy and three-time All-Pro. He recorded 51 career interceptions.
