Steelers Sign Former First-Round Pick Quarterback
The Steelers also placed a veteran defensive back on injured reserve Tuesday.
PITTSBURGH, PA - In need of an additional quarterback on the roster after Ben Roethlisberger's season-ending elbow injury, the Steelers on Tuesday signed former first-round pick Paxton Lynch to the practice squad.
The Denver Broncos selected Lynch in the first round of the 2016 draft, but released him at the beginning of the 2018 season. Lynch also has been a member of the Seattle Seahawks.
For now, Lynch will be the Steelers' third-string quarterback behind second-year pro Mason Rudolph and undrafted rookie Devlin Hodges.

The Steelers also placed defensive back Sean Davis on injured reserve to make room on the roaster for defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick, who was obtained in a trade with the Miami Dolphins on Monday. As Davis will be a free agent after this season, the move likely ends his Steelers career.
