Strong Storms, Heavy Rains Pummeling Pittsburgh Area

PITTSBURGH, PA — Strong storms are likely for the Pittsburgh metro area for the next several hours.

According to the National Weather Service, these storms could contain strong gusty winds and hail. As much as three quarters of an inch of rain could fall.

Severe thunderstorm warnings already have been issued for areas west of the city.62

Expect temperatures to rise to 62 by 10 a.m., then plummet to around 38 during the remainder of the day. Winds could gust as high as 36 mph.

With the passing of this strong cold front, expect much chillier weather overnight. The low temperature is expected to be 27 overnight and the high will rise only to 38 on Thursday.

Temperatures will rise quickly in the coming days though. Sunday's high is expected to be 67.
