Suburban Pittsburgh Police Officer Shoots, Kills Armed Man

FOREST HILLS, PA — A Churchill police officer shot an armed man who died overnight in an area hospital.

According to Allegheny County police, officers from multiple area departments responded to the 200 block of Glasgow Road in Forest Hills Thursday shortly before 9:30 p.m. As they arrived, they heard a firearm being chambered and a shot being fired.

Officers encountered a 48-year-old man with a firearm outside of a residence. The Churchill officer shot the man in the torso. The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition but later died.
