Taco Takeover Among 5 Fun Weekend Things To Do In Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, PA — If you're looking for something to do until it's time to hit the beach, or if you're already bored from just having returned from there, here are some Patch suggestions to get you out of the house this weekend:
- Pittsburgh Taco Takeover, Aug. 1, 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. entry times, Carrie Furnace, Rankin
Twenty of Pittsburgh’s premier food trucks will be on hand to offer their best takes on tacos. But the family friendly event also will feature live music, beer, tequila, margaritas, blast furnace tours and more.
- Steelers Fest, July 31, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Art Rooney Avenue, North Shore
No, it won't be as much fun as watching Cam Heyward sack Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson during the regular season, but fans will have access to games and activities, prizes, a performance by the Steeline Drumline and will be the first to hear the 2021 Hall of Honor Class announcement. Fans planning to attend the training camp practice in Heinz Field at 1:30 p.m. will need a mobile ticket for admittance.

- Berlin, July 30, 7:30 p.m., South Park Amphitheater
Children of the 1980s who now have grandchildren, it's time to put down your canes and try to dance to one of the more popular synth pop bands of that era at the latest Allegheny County Summer Concert Series event. All three original members will perform and you don't have to worry about blowing all of that Social Security check because the show is free.
- Pittsburgh Blues & Roots Festival, July 31, 1:30-11 p.m.; Aug. 1, 1:30 p.m., Pittsburgh Shrine Center, Cheswick.
This two-day festival will feature acts such as Joanna Conner, Anthony Gomes, the Vanessa Collier Band, Billy Price Band, Jim Donovan and the Sun Kings Warriors and more. The event will benefit Band Together and the Autism Society of Pittsburgh.

- Hollywood East Walking Tour: A Downtown Movie Tour, Aug. 1, 11 a.m., David L. Lawrence Convention Center.
Explore original filming locations of the many blockbusters and independent movies filmed in Pittsburgh and become familiar with the history of the actual landmarks seen in various movie scenes. The two-hour tour and you'll walk about two miles, so you probably won't be up for it if you went to Friday night's Berlin concert.
