Teen Killed In Fall At YMCA Camp Identified, Was Honor Student
The 15-year-old died Monday in a fall in Somerset County.

The teen killed in a fall Monday while attending a YMCA camp has been identified as Nathan Kanczes, 15, of North Huntingdon, Westmoreland County. Nathan was a sophomore honor student at Norwin High School and played baritone for the Norwin marching band.
Nathan was attending a wilderness camp in Fort Hill via the YMCA Camp Kon-O-Kwee Spencer. He fell about 40 feet from rocks in Forbes State Forest and was flown to Conemaugh Meyersdale Medical Center where he died.
"We are devastated by this tragic loss and our hearts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time," the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh said in a statement.">According to his obituary, Nathan was looking forward to becoming a counselor in training at Camp Kon-O-Kwee in Zelienople next year. A member of the Norwin ski club, he also enjoyed video games and magic cards.

Friends will be received from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Ott Funeral Home Inc. 805 Pennsylvania Avenue in Irwin. Parting prayers will be held 9 a.m. Friday in the funeral home followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church in Irwin.
