Teen Tased After Wrecking Stolen Car In Downtown Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, PA — A teen wrecked a stolen car in Downtown Pittsburgh Friday morning, then ended up threatening police who were pursuing him with a knife.

Pittsburgh Public Safety officials said police were dispatched just before 10 a.m. for reports of a suspicious vehicle Downtown that then crashed at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Ross Street.

The male driver ran from the area into the nearby BNY Mellon parking garage. Police searched the garage until the suspect eventually emerged from the garage around Seventh Avenue and Ross Street.

After threatening officers with a knife, the suspect was tased by officers, taken into custody taken to the hospital for medical evaluation.

The 15-year-old suspect faces multiple charges including receiving stolen property (theft of motor vehicle), driving without a license, simple assault physical menace, and resisting arrest.
