Ten Fun Places To Take Out-Of-Town Easter Visitors
Warhol Museum, Gabe's discount retailer among the recommendations.

PITTSBURGH, PA - It can happen easily. Friends and family come from distant locales to celebrate a holiday, and your mind suddenly goes blank when you try to think of ways to entertain them during their stay.
To be sure that doesn’t happen to you this Easter week, we decided to see what Yelp users consider to be the 10 best places to take out-of-towners. Being that a discount fashion retailer beat out both the Duquesne and Monongahela inclines, you might be surprised by some of the entries on the list:
- The Andy Warhol Museum, 117 Sandusky St, North Shore
There’s no denying this locale belongs at the top of the list. It’s the largest museum in North America dedicated to a single artist - the late pop culture icon who seldom admitted he hailed from Pittsburgh.

- Primanti Bros Sandwiches, various locations
It seems as though nearly every Pittsburgh neighborhood has one of these restaurants. The city appears to have an insatiable appetite for sandwiches in which the fries and coleslaw partner with the meat between two thick slices of Italian bread.
- P&G's Pamela's Diner, various locations
This was a favorite spot for former President Barack Obama. When he visited Pittsburgh, he discovered what the natives already knew: Pamela’s makes pancakes that are as delicious as they are large.

- Eons Fashion Antique, 5850 Ellsworth Ave. Shadyside
No trip to Shadyside would be complete without a stop at this store selling vintage clothing and accessories for men and women from the 1880s through the 1980s.
- Carnegie Science Center, 1 Allegheny Ave., North Shore
One of the four Carnegie Museums in the city, the center has four floors containing interactive exhibits, the largest Omnimax movie screen in Pittsburgh, the Buhl Planetarium and the space for live shows and programs for the entire family.
- Nakama , various locations
With locations in the South Side, North Hills, Carnegie Mellon University, PNC Park, Heinz Field and PPG Paints Arena, this place undeniably is Pittsburgh’s most popular Japanese steakhouse and sushi bar.
- Gabe’s Outlet Stores , various locations
This one’s a head-scratcher. The national discount retailer formerly known as Gabriel Brothers, beat out such local attractions as the inclines, the Carnegie Museum of Natural History and Kennywood. We have no idea why.
- Fat Heads Saloon , 1805 East Carson St., South Side
Gargantuan-sized sandwiches. Homemade potato chips. One of the city’s best selections of craft beers. What’s not to like about this place? In fact, we’re headed there right after we finsih writing this piece.
It’s the most beautiful ballpark in America, but forget about going there this weekend. The Pirates are on the road against the Chicago Cubs.
- Mad Mex. various locales.
One of the Big Burrito Group chain of restaurants, this place specializes in a food mashup that emphasizes Mexican in its name but also includes southeast Asian and Spanish. Not a bad beer selection, either.
