Thanksgiving Weekend 2020: What's Open, Closed Around Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, PA — Thanksgiving brings with it a long holiday weekend with many government and businesses operating under closures and adjusted hours. Here's what you can expect this weekend around Pittsburgh:

Allegheny County

All county offices, as well as North Park and South Park golf courses, will be closed on Thanksgiving. The North Park and South Park ice rinks also will be closed, as they have not yet opened for the season. Hartwood Acres Mansion remains closed due to the pandemic.

On Nov 25, the marriage license-passport Office will close at 4:30 p.m. instead of 7:30 p.m.

On Nov. 27, the Department of Court Records (except for the marriage license-passport office) the Fifth Judicial District, and the District Attorney’s Office will be closed for the court-observed holiday. Additionally, county council offices will be closed. All other county offices will be open, including the Controller’s Office, without restriction, and all parks facilities will resume normal operating hours.

On Nov. 30, all county offices will return to regular business hours.

City of Pittsburgh

All city of Pittsburgh offices and facilities will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and Nov. 27. Offices will reopen on Nov. 30.

There will not be any refuse, bulk waste or recycling collection on Thanksgiving. The schedule will proceed as follows: Collection scheduled for Nov. 26 will occur on Nov. 27 and collection scheduled for Nov. 27 will occur on Nov. 28.

Healthy Active Living Centers (senior centers) and city recreation centers will be closed Nov. 26 and 27.

The Mellon Tennis Bubble will be closed on Thanksgiving but open on Nov. 27.

The Oliver Bath House remains closed due to coronavirus restrictions.

Port Authority of Allegheny County

Service will run on a Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving.

United States Postal Service

No mail delivery on Thanksgiving. Post offices will be open and regular delivery will resume on Nov. 27.

Pennsylvania Fine Wine & Good Spirits Stores

All stores closed on Thanksgiving. Normal operating hours resume Dec. 27.
