These Are Pittsburgh's Best Nursing Homes: U.S. News

PITTSBURGH, PA — U.S. News & World Report on Wednesday released its 2024 Best Nursing Homes ratings that included a comprehensive analysis of the 116 nursing homes in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area.

U.S. News rated more than 15,000 nursing homes nationwide using metrics such as infection rates, staffing levels, reliance on antipsychotic drugs, health inspection results and other factors. In performing the analysis, U.S. News found the less than 5 percent of nursing homes meet both existing staffing requirements and newly proposed staffing requirements by the Biden administration.

Of the 116 nursing homes in the region, five received a five out of five rating. They are:

• UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital Transitional Care Unit, Oakland.

• Vincentian Marian Manor, Banksville.

• Armstrong County Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit, Kittanning.

• Concordia at Rebecca Residence, Allison Park.

• Jefferson Hills Wellness & Rehabilitaion Center, Jefferson Hills.

“U.S. News’ Best Nursing Homes ratings give patients, senior residents, their families and caregivers an objective assessment of quality, to help them choose the facility that best fits their individual needs,” Daniel Lara Agudelo, health data analyst at U.S. News, said in a news release

“Nursing homes that have earned the recognition of U.S. News have a track record of achieving better outcomes for patients and residents, and maximizing the amount of care they receive from nurses and other staff.”
