Threat Closes Another Pittsburgh-Area School District

And another district decides to arm a security guard.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Classes are canceled Wednesday in the Plum School District because a threat was received via a district tips line Tuesday evening.

“The threat was not specific,” a message on the district website stated. “Out of an abundance of caution, school is cancelled (Wednesday).”

Plum is the third western Pennsylvania school district to cancel class this week because of threats, which have spiked dramatically locally and nationwide since last month’s school shooting in Parkland, Florida, left 17 people dead. On Monday, classes were postponed in the Apollo-Ridge and Blackhawk school districts.
