Tom Giotto Named Pittsburgh Employment Law “Lawyer of the Year"

Co-Chair of Cozen O'Connor's Labor and Employment Department named the 2018 Pittsburgh Employment Law – Management "Lawyer of the Year".

Tom Giotto, Co-Chair of Cozen O’Connor’s Labor and Employment Department, has been named the 2018 Pittsburgh Employment Law – Management “Lawyer of the Year” by Best Lawyers in America, one of the oldest and most highly regarded peer review publications in the legal profession.

This is the third time Giotto has been named a Pittsburgh “Lawyer of the Year.” He was recognized in Employment Law – Management in 2013 and in Labor Law – Management in 2014.

Giotto, the only Employment Law - Management lawyer in Pittsburgh named “Lawyer of the Year” in that category for 2018, received the highest ratings in his practice area from leading lawyers nationwide. He earned this distinction for excellence in his legal ability, professionalism, and integrity- and will be featured in various regional and national publications.

Giotto helped launch a new, full-service Pittsburgh office when he joined Cozen O’Connor earlier this year, along with other former leaders of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney. Giotto has been instrumental in rapidly growing the Pittsburgh office from three to 20 attorneys and in helping to expand the firm’s national Labor and Employment practice to more than 70 attorneys across the country.

He concentrates his practice on representing management in many aspects of labor, employment, and employment-related litigation. Giotto’s traditional labor practice includes representing employers during union organizing campaigns, collective bargaining, and grievance arbitrations. He has represented employers in litigation involving race, sex, sexual harassment, age and disability discrimination, and against claims alleging violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, COBRA, and wrongful discharge and related common law claims.

Giotto also has experience speaking on a range of employment law topics and has been named one of the top labor law attorneys since 2006 in Chambers USA. Since 2004, he has been consistently selected to the Pennsylvania Super Lawyers list.

He received his bachelor’s degree from the Pennsylvania State University (B.A., 1976) and he earned his law degree from Duquesne University School of Law (J.D, 1983).
