Tool, Dylan, Incubus Top Pittsburgh Weekend Events

PITTSBURGH, PA - This weekend around Pittsburgh will be highlighted by a trio of legendary music acts spanning various genres and different decades of peak popularity. There’s also a teen singer-ventriloquist in town and a certain NFL team you might be acquainted with is playing.

Let;s jump right into the action:

  • Tool, Nov. 8, 7:30 p.m., PPG Paints Arena

The legendary but enigmatic prog-rock-metal band just released its first new music in 13 years, "Fear Inoculum." Expect to hear plenty of that brilliant opus, as well as classics such as "Schism," "Parabola," and "Stinkfist." Killing Joke will be the opening act.

  • Incubus, Nov. 8, 8 p.m., Heinz Hall

Hard to believe it’s been 20 years since this California rock band released the album that launched it into the mainstream. “Male Yourself”’s three singles - “Pardon Me,” “Stellar,” and “Drive” all charted on Billboard’s alternative rock charts. Expect to hear those songs and more as the band’s 20 Years of Make Yourself and Beyond Tour stops in Pittsburgh.

  • Darci Lynne and Friends, Nov. 9, 7 p.m., Heinz Hall

After winning NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” at just 12-years old, singer-ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer comes to Pittsburgh accompanied by her musical friends, including the diva-esque rabbit Petunia, the shy mouse Oscar and the sarcastic old lady Edna. The captivating show is backed by a live band.

  • Bob Dylan, Nov. 10, UPMC Events Center, Robert Morris University, Moon

The legendary singer songwriter of "Blowin' in the Wind" and "The Times They Are A Changin'" returns to Pittsburgh for the first time in two years. Dylan is 78 and so you never know when he might retire from touring, so if you're a fan you should get to Bobby U. on Sunday.

  • PghMuseums.com Launch Party, Nov. 9, 6 p.m., Threadbare Cider and Mead, North Side

Celebrating the debut of this online directory of more than 400 museums, galleries, and historic places in the region, the kick-off event will feature live music from Tim Vitullo, live painting from artists Nikki Bacon and William Taylor, two free drinks and appetizers, and a PGH Membership card ($20 value) for $25 admission. The Carnegie Museum of Natural History's mini museum will also be on display.

  • Steelers vs. Los Angele Rams, Nov. 10, 4:25 p.m. Heinz Field.

The Steelers hope to build on the three-game winning streak that has gotten them back to .500, The Rams are just one game better than the Steelers with a 5-3 record yet opened as a 3.5-point favorite to win on the road Sunday at Heinz Field. Should the Steelers feel dissed?
