PITTSBURGH, PA — The possibility of tornadoes exists for Southwestern Pennsylvania on Wednesday.
The National Weather Service says that in addition to the tornado risk for the Pittsburgh area, an approaching cold front later today could bring damaging winds.
Anticipated heavy downpours could cause localized flooding similar to what occurred Tuesday evening in Uniontown, Fayette County, where a flash flood warning was issued.

The highest risk for severe storms today is this afternoon and evening, the weather service says. The chance of precipitation is 90 percent.
The high temperature will be around 80.

State College-based AccuWeather also is calling for heavy thunderstorms to move into the region later today. The Weather Channel says there is a marginal risk of severe weather.
The risk for showers and storms will continue on Thursday with an expected high temperature around 80. Cooler weather is expected for the start of the weekend, with the high on Friday only reaching the mid-60s.
