Tornados, Hail Possible As Storms Target Pittsburgh Area: See Timing
Damaging winds and isolated flooding are possible as a storm system rolls into the Pittsburgh area on Tuesday, forecasters said.
PITTSBURGH, PA — Severe storms are forecast to hit parts of western Pennsylvania on Tuesday and could bring hail, damaging winds and an isolated tornado to the Pittsburgh area.
The region was under a hazardous weather outlook Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. The alert affects counties including Mercer, Lawrence, Butler, Beaver, Allegheny, Washington, Greene and Westmoreland.
According to the NWS forecast, storms are expected to move into the region late Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning. Severe weather will likely start between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. and continue through 2 a.m. Wednesday, forecasters said.

As the system moves through the area, the area could see anywhere between a tenth and a quarter of an inch of new rainfall.
Hail and an isolated tornado are also possible, forecasters said, while heavy rainfall from thunderstorms may lead to isolated instances of flooding.

Sunny conditions are expected Wednesday before more rain and another round of potential severe weather moves into the area early Thursday morning, forecasters said.

Tuesday Night: Showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 2 a.m. Low around 65. South wind 7 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 82. West wind 9 to 14 mph.
Wednesday Night: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 a.m. Increasing clouds, with a low around 60. West wind around 6 mph becoming southeast after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Thursday: Showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 11 a.m. High near 72. Southeast wind 8 to 15 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Thursday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 2am, then a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 53. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
