Trader Joe's Looking To Expand Pittsburgh Presence: Report

PITTSBURGH, PA — Trader Joe's might be considering adding a new Pittsburgh location.

With stores already in Eastside near Bakery Square, McCandless Crossing in McCandless and in the South Hills, the popular and eclectic grocery chain appears to be looking to add a fourth location.

Trader Joe's has been eyeing sites in the Strip District, according to a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette report. The P-G said one possible locale is on the Strip District-Downtown border between the Fort Wayne Railroad Bridge and Interstate 579.

Trader Joe's did not confirm its interest in expanding in Pittsburgh to the newspaper.

Founded in 1967 in California, Trader Joe's has more than 450 stores across the country. In 1979, the company was sold to the Albrecht family of Germany, which also owns the Aldi discount supermarket chain.
