Trevor Noah Tops 5 Weekend Events Around Pittsburgh
There's also another Broadway in Pittsburgh production to see and a certain lethargic NHL team playing.

PITTSBURGH, PA - With the holidays just having ended and the region, you’d be correct in assuming this isn’t the most variety-packed weekend for activities around town. But even though the region has been in the deep freeze since Christmas, there still a diverse selection of entertainment choices.
Trevor Noah is Africa’s most successful comedian in Africa and is the host of the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning “The Daily Show,” on Comedy Central. He’ll be appearing at Heinz Hall Friday for two performances. The 7:30 p.m. show is sold out, but tickets remain for the 10 p.m one.
Noah next month will premiere his 9th new comedy special “Afraid of the Dark” on Feb. 21 on Netflix. The show was shot at New York City’s Beacon Theater in November.

This PNC Broadway in Pittsburgh production is the sequel to "The Phantom of the Opera." It takes place 10 years after the Phantom's disappearance from the Paris Opera House and chronicles the Phantom's new life in New York. He's having an OK time amid Coney Island's freak shows and screaming joy rides, but he still yearns for Christine Daae, his one true love and musical protege.
Love Never Dies tickets start at $30.
- Pittsburgh RV Show, Jan. 6, 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; Jan 7, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., David L. Lawrence Convention Center
The 50th annual Pittsburgh RV Show features nine acres of the latest models to compare and choose from, plus every RV-related product you might want or need to enhance your trip — from a towing apparatus to boats and ATVs. You'll even find campgrounds and resorts to get you started.
Pittsburgh RV show admission starts at $10.
- Penguins vs. Boston Bruins, Jan. 7, 7:30 p.m. PPG Paints Arena
Might this be the game where the Pens finally break out of their season-long lethargy? One way to find out is to show up to see the slumping defending Stanley Cup champions recently described by NBC Sports as “simply a flawed team that has too many empty roster spots (like, for example, the entire fourth line and a big part of the third line) at the moment.” Scratch our backs with hacksaws.
Penguins vs. Bruins tickets start at $34.
- Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Kick-Off Training Run, Jan. 6, 7-11 a.m., 812 River Ave., North Side
Because who doesn’t like getting up early on a Saturday morning in subzero temperatures and wind chills and going for a long run? Certainly not the many people who will jump-start their training for the Pittsburgh Marathon on May 6. This free event will feature the Steel City Road Runners leading several run distances (4, 6 and 8 mile routes) and various pace options. Vendors on hand will include Dick’s, UPMC Health Plan, Brooks Running and GNC Live Well.
