Donations Pour In For Family Of Man Slain At Trump Rally Shooting
Corey Comperatore died in Saturday's shooting at a Donald Trump rally. A fund has been established to benefit his family

BUFFALO TOWNSHIP, PA — Contributions continue to pour in to benefit the family of the man who died Saturday in the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump during a Butler County rally.
As of Monday afternoon, more than $1 million had been donated on the GoFundMe page established to benefit the survivors of Corey Comperatore, 50, of Sarver, Butler County, who died while shielding family members from the man shooting at Trump from a nearby rooftop.
A U.S. Secret Service agent killed the shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park Pennsylvania.

Trump suffered a wound to the ear, while two other spectators were wounded. The Pennsylvania State Police identified them as David Dutch, 57, of New Kensington, and James Copenhaver, 74, of Moon. Both men are listed in stable condition.
Comperatore was eulogized in President Joe Biden's nationwide address Sunday night condemning the shooting.

"We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the victim who was killed," Biden said. "Corey was a husband, a father, a volunteer firefighter, a hero, sheltering his family from those bullets. We should all hold his family and all those injured in our prayers."
Gov. Josh Shapiro has ordered United States and state flags on all state facilities, buildings and grounds in Pennsylvania to fly at half-staff in honor of Comperatore.
"Corey was the very best of us," Shapiro said at a news conference Sunday in Butler, describing Comperatore as a firefighter, church goer and a proud "girl dad."
According to his LinkedIn profile, Comperatore was an engineer at a Butler plastic manufacturing company in Butler. He was also a Buffalo Township volunteer firefighter.
Comperatore is survived by his wife, Helen, and adult daughters Allyson and Kaylee. They have declined comment on the shooting thus far, but USA Today reported they are working on a statement to release to the public.
In a social media post, Comperatore's sister, Dawn Comperatore Schafer, wrote: "The hatred for one man took the life of the one man we loved the most." “This feels like a terrible nightmare but we know it is our painful reality.”
