Tuesday Morning Stores File For Bankruptcy
The retail chain filed for bankruptcy Wednesday and will close more than 200 of its stores.
PITTSBURGH, PA —Discount home goods retailer Tuesday Morning filed for bankruptcy on Wednesday and plans to permanently close about 230 of its nearly 700 stores. The chain blamed the coronavirus outbreak for pushing it into bankruptcy.
Tuesday Morning CEO Steve Becker said the chain was doing well before the outbreak forced temporary store closures and temporary furloughs.
"The complete halt of store operations for two months put the company in a financial position that can be effectively addressed only through a reorganization in Chapter 11," Becker said in a release.
