Upper St. Clair Schools To Hold Community Pep Rally

UPPER ST. CLAIR, PA - The Upper St. Clair School District will usher in the new school year by hosting a second annual community pep rally. The free event, open to the public, will be held Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. at the high school stadium.
The pep rally will include a variety of competitions among the high school fall varsity sports teams including girls’ and boys’ cross country, golf and soccer; football; girls’ volleyball; girls’ tennis; field hockey; cheerleading; dance and hip hop; and rowing. Events will include limbo, a pie eating contest, tug-of-war, field goal kicking contest and more.
Also at the event, district athletic director Kevin Deitrick will present the Upper St. Clair Academic Panther Cup to the varsity team that achieved the highest GPA during the 2017-18 academic year.
“We emphasize to our student-athletes that their athletic excellence begins with the success in the classroom,” Deitrick said in a district release. “The team with the highest GPA will be given the cup at the Community pep-rally and hold it for one year.”
The rally also will feature performances by the high school marching band and cheerleaders as well as an appearance by the panther mascot. Panther fans can also purchase 2018-19 USC athletic passes at the event.
