Upscale Pittsburgh Pizza Place To Debut

PITTSBURGH, PA — If you enjoy a glass of wine with your pizza, you likely will enjoy this news.

The long-awaited Cork and Crust, an upscale pizza restaurant, will open on Jan. 26. It will be located on the first floor of the Oaklander Hotel on Bigelow Boulevard in Oakland near the University of Pittsburgh campus.

"We've established an elevated wine bar experience complimented by Neapolitan-style pizza featuring in-house made crusts, local ingredients and authentic, bold flavors," the restaurant's Facebook page states.

Corkand Crust's executive chef is well-known in Pittsburgh dining circles. Kristin Butterworh formerly worked at Nemacolin in Fayette County and been named a James Beard Award semifinalist three times.

  • Spicy pepperoni featuring tomato sauce, mozzarella, jalapeno, hot honey and basil.
  • Holy Shitake, featuring pesto, shiitake mushrooms, pickled onions, mozzarella and parmesan.
  • Nonna's Rebellion, featuring tomato sauce, pineapple, leoncini ham, hot honey jalapeños and mozzarella.
  • Truffle Pig, featuring white sauce, black truffle, italian sausage, garlic, red onion and, arugula.
